Progress on DoS and Treasures

Hi everyone,

I took a little longer to do this post because I wanted to share with you my progress on the  Dawn of Spring SAL as well.
I finally managed to caught up with the group and I completed part 2 of the SAL, I had to do some adjustments because it seems that I don't know how to count and I ended up not following the chart for the last row... but I guess it's not that different from all the others and at the same time, now it has my "personal touch" eheheh (sorry Mouse ;)).
On SK Treasures I completed the row I was working on the last time you saw it and I completed another row, so I just have two and half rows to complete to finish the page and move on to my next projects (Dragon Fae and Sweet Flower SAL)
And now lets go to the good part (piccies):

TUSAL and IHSW

Hi everyone...
So this weekend was a two in one weekend TUSAL time and IHSW (which I'll be extending untill tomorrow when my "weekend" finishes ehehe)

So to start with one picture and because there's no need of introductions, here is my little TUSAL... I had this little box full a few weeks ago so I moved all ORTs to a bigger box... but I kept this one because it's handier to have on the sofa's arm while I'm stitching

And now onto the good stuff, my IHSW piccies... I haven't stitched much in one thing because I decided to splitt my "love" through a couple of projects, and I'm working on a project a day :D.... So on Friday and Saturday I worked on Dawn of Spring designed by the lovely Mouse for the Friendly Stitchers yahoo group... (sorry I have no before picture, but I only had the top row, almost finished) and this was how it was left on Saturday night (sorry for the hoop mark):

Then on Sunday was a great day because it was the monthly meeting for the Emeraldislecrossstitcher yahoo group (those of us who live in Dublin and nearby, try to meet once a month) and I ended up hosting it, and I had the opportunity to meet Maud, it was great fun to be able to talk about the blogs I stalk and finding that she stalks  reads them too and we could ooohhhh and ahhhh over the gorgeous projects we see on the blogland. And for Sunday my choice was Dragon Fae I which hadn't seen a new stitch in a very, very long time (since 1st of July 2011 :O):
The before
I've stitched one more row and plan to complete one more page before moving on to other projects:
the after (with the new row)
And today I picked a new project to take with me on the train because I was going to spend a couple of hours on the city center for an appointment since I had to go the the office in the morning (11am) and had an appointment at 14:15 I decided to take a "bigger" project with me and go to the library for the hours I had to wait in between... and the project I took with me was the SAL Treasures (I challenge you to spot the difference between the before and after xD):
Before
After
This is the after (after the couple of hours stitching at the library) since I got home I almost completed the row :D So there should be a new post soon when I finish the page of this and of Dragon Fae

Hope you enjoyed my progress :D

Happy Stitches
Sara

Warning.... long post

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all sitting comfortably with your cuppa, because this is going to be a long post (yes... you have been missing my long posts haven't you :) they mean - many piccies :D)
So first off all I hope you're all planning to pay a visit to Joysze's blog because ... guess what.... IHWS is next weekend so go over and join us on the fun (if you press the link it will take you diretly to the signing in page... or just press the IHSW crabbie on the bar side) and the more we are, more blogs we have to stalk read :D

Now lets go to my projects,
on the last post I mentioned I had finished a project for a Spring exchange in one of the groups I belong to so I couldn't share the piccies... well it was received today so.... Picture time:

We had to stitch something related to Spring or Easter, so I decided to do a 2 in 1 and finish one of my Crazies that was perfect for the theme, then the challenge was to finish it in some new way we hadn't tried before... I had several ideas and initially I was going for a small cushion, I bought the fabric and when I finished the stitching and started the finishing project I thought... it would be nice if the stitched part was a pocket for some bits and bobs, and so I made the pocket... and then I started thinking... "oh it would be even better if it had some sort of utility instead of being merely decorative" and so this was what I ended up with:
Front view withe two variagated threads I sent on the pocket
A project bag where you can keep a small project for the go. I thought of this because I'm using the train more and more frequently to go to the city center, this way you have your project protected and everything in one place (I'll be doing one for me for sure :))

Side view

Bottom view - it has a "hard" bottom and the fabric I sent

Back view with the fabric
Now I sent her also two pieces of fabric I dyed myself after learning a new technique here. She has a great tutorial on dyeing fabric with paper crepe and the effect speaks for itself :):

A greenish one

And a blueish one
In exchange I received the most gorgeous needlebook and it's even more special to me because it's my first needlebook with my very first counting pins...
The card and the needlebook

The cover

Aren't they gorgeous :D I was so happy with it :D I'm really lucky for having such gifted friends :D

Also... do you remember the Crocus's I had been doing a while back... well I finally sent it to it's final destination so I can finally share a picture of it framed:
Crocus on the oval frame

I finally finished part 2 and 3 of Sweet flower SAL and these is how they look like with my colour choices (sorry for the wrinkles but I won't iron it until I've finished it):

Close up of part 3
Part 2 and 3
Full project up to now

So my stitching plan is to catch up with the dawn of Spring now so I should have a new post in a few days (or so I hope)

Happy Stitches,
Sara

A THANK YOU for the Liebster Award and my poor WIPOCALYPSE for this month

Hi everyone....

I know, once more I haven't posted for ages... and this time it's because I haven't stitched for ages too :S....
So first of all I wanted to thanks to:
Louanne from stitchingobsessions
Emma from xxxstitching
and Alicia from thecraftyprincess

because all of them awarded me with the

Liebster is a German word meaning favourite, dearest or beloved. The Liebster Blog Award is awarded by bloggers to other new bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers, to help spread the word about their blogs and to help them gain wider recognition.

AND the T&C of this award as you might know by heart by now:
  1. Choose 5 up-and-coming blogs with less than 200 followers to award the Liebster to.
  2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
  3. Post the award on your blog.  List the bloggers you are giving the award to with links to their sites.  Leave comments on their blogs so they know about the award.
  4. Share 5 random facts about yourself that people don’t know about you.

2. and 3. are done... let's go for the 1. (this was hard because I wanted to give them to all the blogs I follow, so I decided to focus on the last part and help other friendly stitchers getting a few more followers, in no specific order:)

2 - Tamara at Intricate Stitches
4 - Shannon at A bit of this and That
5 - Topcho at Bla. Bla? Bla! (she's also having a giveaway for reaching 100 followers ;))

Now the interresting part for you... the 5 random acts abut me:

1 - I'm awful at time managment so I make lists to manage my time... but I spent so much time making them that I end up not having enough time for actually following them xD

2 - I'm easily distracted and I forget things very easily, if I have to go to do some grocery shoping by myself it's almost guaranteed that I'll forget the thing I needed the most (and was the main reason for going),

3 - I tend to be a very isolated person, although I'm very sociable and almost everybody likes me (at least I like to think so eheh) I would prefer to stay at home by myself for a full month with just my stitching, my pc and my books, than being a full week in a crowded environment.

4 - I'm a bat.... I don't do mornings... and I like my job because I don't have to wake up early to go to work... instead I stay awake during the full night working and that's how I like it.

5 - I read the book "Pollyanna" when I was seven and since then I've tried to have the same optmistic attitude, I do believe that there's always a "Good" side of everything and that the day goes much better if you smile. I'm known for always be smiling and I love to see unknown people smiling back at me (I like to think that just because they smiled for 5 secs, their day will be brighter).

And this are 5 ramdom things :)

Now onto my poor WIPocalypse... as I said on the beginning I barely stitched a thing, so here are the few photos I can share of my progress since the 14th of March...

Spring Exchange for the Emeraldislecrossstitchers Yahoo group (no pics to show because it wasn't received yet and I don't want to spoil any surprise :)

2- A tiny bit at Dawn of Spring SAL from the Friendly Stitchers Yahoo group (I redid this 3 times until I was happy with my choices)
My little start

The thread I'm using

The fabric I dyed

3 - I almost finished part 2 of Sweet Flower SAL from MagicasPuntadas:
part 2 almost finished

Happy Stitches everyone and I'll try to post more :)
