IHSW stitching

Hi everyone,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend full of stitches, specially for those who joined the IHSW, I know I did stitch a lot although I was working (I was lucky that it was a quite weekend in terms of work). I've foused on Jasmin and all I have to stitch now is the flowers and do the backstitch. I've managed to complete the blue background and stitch the greens.

Here is how it's now:

And now since this is the SK SAL week I'll stop a little bit with Jasmin and I'm going to try and finish the 1st page of it. I've more than half already done. But before I jump to it I want to stitch the Stressed Out Cat from Margaret Sherry. I'm hoping it will only take a few hours, since it only has a few stitches in one colour and then it's bakstitch.

Thanks for reading and Happy Stitches

Two days progress on Jasmin

I'm really happy with the amount of progress I did in two days so I decided to share with you, I stithed around 700 stitches per night and I'm really liking because not only I see the background grow, but I can see where the leaves and flowers will go.
Now if I manage to keep this rhythm I think I'll have a finish earlier than I thought :) and there's IHSW coming to stitch even more :)

This is how it was on Tuesday before I pick it:

And this is how it is when I stopped on Thursday night:

What've been doing...

I know, I know, it's been a while since my last posting regarding my projects. But as it happens in the beggining of every month I've had tons of work to do and little stitching time. But I did stitch and spent my "weekend" (my days of are Monday and Tuesday" dedicated to stitching. And I was able to complete one of my monthly goals, not that they are that many xD.
I finally caught up with the SAL Tree of Stitches of Abi, and now I've completed part 13 (it's nearly finishing). I've to do some adjustments since I made some mistakes like wrongly finding the center and therefore getting a wee bit short on the top and miscounting some stitches and so I went round the issue when there was too much to frog. But I think it's ok, and apart the big center problem, i don't think you can tell where the other misltakes are.

And here are the piccs a general view:

And a close up to the new stitched parts:
   Part 7-9
Part 10-11
Part 12-13

Also I dyed another piece of fabric, this time it was blue, and here is the final result. I really like it :)
I've put a piece of white paper on top. To work as a comparisson.

And this is what I'll be stithing on it:
It's from Cross Stitch Magazine, and it's perfect for one of my grandmother's since she loves orchids and I think that by now she has one sample of almost all orchids in her house and they are gorgeous.

And to finish this huge post, I'll be stitching on Jasmin until the SK SAL starts... this is how I left it the last time I stithed on it:

Ohhhh!! By the way... if you managed to read this far I also wanted to let you know about the International Hermit and Stitch Weekend that Joysze hosts on her blog... I'm already in for this month and if you want to try it just go here.

And finally stop with the talk and back to stitching :)

Happy Stitches everyone

Table Cloth - 11.04.2011

Ok I know I promised more progress on Jasmin, but on Saturday night I realized my mum is arriving to visit me next Friday and I want to have a decent progress on her table cloth to show her. So I decided I would focus on the table cloth this week. On Sunday I held a Cross-stitch meeting at my place so it was the perfect moment to grab the table cloth and keep stitching it and I managed to finish the first corner yesterday :). Now only more three corners to go and the centre piece. Yay...

And here is the pic of course:

DMC - Jasmin 07/04/11

As I promised myself I've focused on Jasmin and although I haven't stitched half of the design, I have finished the 2 bottom pages (I'm not considering the backstitch because some lines are still missing) of the 4 pages that make the chart. So I've finished the sepia part (I'm doing the sepia version because I like the effect of it more) and I've started the color part with the blue background. I know the pic is not perfect but you can already see some color. And I promise I'll post a better pic as soon as I reach the 50% stitching done mark.

DMC - Jasmin

After finishing the 1s page on QS Believe I decided to change for something "lighter" (with less confetti basically). And I remember I hadn't work on Jasmin for a while. Therefore I pulled it back again and I made quite a progress in only two days. It gets really fast to stitch when one doesn't have o change the thread colour every two squares xD
And for you to be able to see the progress here is the before and after picture. I'll keep working on it for at least one more week so I'm counting with more progress on it.

Hope you enjoy it!

Table cloth

After 2 days cross-stitching I manage to recover my progress; I have redone all the frogging and did a bit more.
But guess what? I ran out of the dark green again, because I wasn't counting with what I happened I started stitching with the dark green I end up picking, but I only had a thread of it with me and I didn't thought I would use the 8meters so quickly (I'm using four strands over one square). Lucky me this thread is recent so I just need to go and buy some more (which I hope I'll be able to do on Friday if I have time) I wouldn't do the same mistake twice anyway.

But since this project is on standby until I buy the thread I'll be going back to Touch of Spring... to finish the page and who knows, start the hand ^^ can't wait to see it.

Meanwhile here is a picture of how the table cloth looks right now.

Project 2 - Table cloth with flowers

So my second project on my 2 week rotation plan will be the Table Cloth I intend to do for my mom. This project is very special to me, my mom had the fabric (2m X 2m of Aida 14ct) for more than 25 years and she bought it to do a simple table cloth with some cross-stitched flowers on the borders. I remember when I was a kid doing my first stitches and asking her to use that fabric for some projects and she always said no because she was going to do the table cloth (which she never did). A couple of years ago I decided to steal her the fabric and do the table cloth myself for her. I had everything ready: several old threads that my mom had bought for the cloth, the fabric and I made my mom pick the chart without knowing for what it was. I had it on standby for a couple of years and when I moved to Ireland I decided to bring it with me to do it.
Now I plan to finish it before Easter, to give it to my mom when she'll be coming over to visit me for the first time : D

I had started it already last year and this is how it was when I grabbed it on Monday to keep going:

Unfortunately I found out that I ran out of the dark green and I can't find the extra threads I had, and the color I'm using no longer exists (I was using some very old threads from Anchor) I bought the closest tone I could find but it's still very visible the difference between the two threads when stitched so this was my progress on Monday:

I had to frog all the dark green and back almost to the beginning but I hope I'll finish this corner by the en of the second week.
I'll keep you posted ;)
